Writing a book about you

When a boxer goes out in the ring to meet his opponent, he must face his challenger alone. And, although he's been trained, coached, and groomed for that one moment, his success is going to have a great deal to do with how he applies what he's been taught. Most of all, however, his success will have to do with his attitude.

So, now you know that a significant key to your success is within your grasp. In fact, your happiness is entirely up to you, and you alone. If you're not satisfied with where you are in life, change your circumstances.

If that's not possible, change your attitude. Find the positive aspects in the situation. If you're having trouble finding the positive in your particular situation, then turn your attention to doing something that you enjoy doing.

Time is too precious to stand quietly by and wait for someone else to make you happy, or to wait for your negative circumstances to go away. If there's one thing about life that we can be certain of, it's that it is uncertain. There's no guarantee that once your current circumstances go away, they won't be replaced by yet another negative situation.

Imagine that you are in the process of writing a book about your life. Peruse through the previous chapters in your life. Is the plot filled with heroes, heroines, enemies, friends, great adventures, challenges, and love?

Is it right on target with where you feel it ought to be at this point? Or, are your main characters paralyzed with fear?

The black belt attitude dictates that you strive for excellence in all areas of your life, and one such way of accomplishing that is to face your fears head on. This is not an easy task by any means. It requires inner strength and discipline.

For example, studies have shown that many people fear standing up and talking in front of a group of people even more than they fear death. That's amazing, but true.

How does one go about overcoming such a powerful fear? You fight back and you face your fear. You take a public speaking course at your local community college.

Then, you find opportunities to use the skills that you've been taught. And while the first time or two behind the podium might prove to be stressful, it gets easier each time you do it.

Actually, when you think about it, what's the worst that can happen? You won't be escorted off to the gallows if the group that you are speaking to doesn't find you absolutely enchanting, and thankfully, the days of throwing rotten tomatoes have gone by the wayside.

The worst that will happen is that you may leave the room with your dignity a little askew and you will have most likely learned something from the experience.

When you have a fear that prevents you from being the best that you can be, face up to it, determine the best way to deal with that fear -- then, just do it.

Your life is a result of thousands of little actions and decisions that either move us closer to success or push us further away. It's important to remember that when you see a successful person, be it a successful businessman, a star athlete, an Olympic performer, or even someone who is just happily married, they all had to work to reach that level of success.

Not only did they have to work to achieve that success, they have to work hard to maintain their success.

Those with a black belt attitude know that they have to study, work hard, and stay focused on their goals in order to achieve and maintain success. It's well-known knowledge that persistence is a quality that far outweighs that of talent or even of intelligence.

Men and women who accomplish great things in their lives are not necessarily better or more gifted than others. They are usually just people who have been persistent and pushed their potential further than the ordinary person.

Your choices in life play a big role in shaping your future, and determining how the upcoming chapters in your book will be written. You can blame all of your shortcomings on a less than ideal childhood, or you can leave the past where it belongs, and forge on by creating a positive future.

You can be upset because you have to get up and go to work, or you can be thankful that you have a job to go to, and a reason to get up in the morning. With the black belt attitude, you can see the rose that just happens to have thorns, or you can see the thorns that just happens to have roses.

How you view life is going to affect your level of happiness and overall success. It will determine if your book will have a happy or not so happy ending.
